I had initially left a 3 star review after the initial viewing because of how hot the “AC” was and some miscommunication that was going on with the employees. The chapel was full and many of our guests were told the same thing when they brought up hot hot it was and they said the AC was all the way up. For the amount families pay an updated or stronger AC would be much appreciated and would help families be more comfortable. The day of the viewing were told we could have only water, no other drink or any food in the viewing chapel, which we abided by. About 5 hours into the viewing we started handing out the waters in the chapel and I had one employee with curly hair and glasses come up to me and say we couldn’t have any water at all and even though I tried to explain what we had been told I was cut off and said we weren’t allowed anything and it didn’t matter what we were told because that wasn’t what should’ve been told. So after that we abided by it and drank the waters over by the food. The next day the last family viewing opened at 8am and we got there at 8:25am and we were told by the same one that it was closed and I told her I was family not a friend and she said it was still closed and I said I needed to deliver some flowers and she said she could do it but I told her I preferred to give them to my family but I had to call some of my family over from inside the viewing while I was down by the door since she wasn’t letting me in at all. Then later I saw them letting others go in after us once we were in our cars waiting and we went back up and we were told it was closed. I said I saw people go in and she said it was closed and closed the door. Then for the departure to the mass she same woman came outside and said we were lined up wrong so we had to move to the front because we couldn’t follow behind even though the other time we had a viewing here inn the same chapel we could follow behind and the AC was still not fixed. (Over 5 years ago). So we moved and once she went inside other people started lining up and they weren’t told anything so I got back in line but I initially lost my place along with my other family members. Genuinely I wouldn’t recommend this chapel because of so much miscommunication and misunderstanding going on during these I incredibly difficult times with our family. Most of the staff was incredibly sensitive and understanding and helpful. Especially the woman who seemed to be leading. Unfortunately the other lady with curly hair and glasses ruined our viewing.

I am so thankful with the Mehl's chapel team, they did an excellent job on my dad's memorial service. We always feel comfortable with them and make this hard time more easy. The always showed respect for the family and were worry about our feelings and everything were very organized. Excellent customer service and clear communication.

My mom unexpectedly passed away October 2021 and I’m a only child and my dad is handicapped. So I had to take care of my moms service arrangements by myself and I didn’t know anything about what to do. First I made a appointment to speak to the director about arrangements and she tried to postpone the time. Second the director said the mortuary can pick up my moms belongings to make things easy for me while they pick her up at the coroners. For weeks I asked about my moms rings. One wedding ring on her finger & the other ring my dad gave my mom when I was born (it was in a envelope). Both went missing. How can I ring that the coroner couldn’t pull off go missing. I spoke to the father who took care of my mom and he said that the checked and there was no rings on my mom. Even though I spoke to the coroner and in her report it was in complete detail. Moral of the story. Take your family members rings when they pass. People and desperate and will steal them. Lastly, I was tricked to buy a very expensive vault when that’s something you do at the cemetery. So unbeknownst to me I bought 2 vaults because of horrible communication. I’m born and raised in Watsonville I will make sure that all family & friends give them business to Ava Maria.
